Emily Yu '23
Director of Internal Service
Emily is a first-year studying Linguistics & Computer Science and Economics from the New York City area. She realized her passion for dance at age 15 after a friend dragged her to an audition, eventually leading her to discover her love of ballet. She began in a beginner class at her local Greenwich studio, and worked her way up through the next three years until she reached the level of her peers and was permitted to dance en pointe. She has danced and choreographed in her high school’s Horace Mann Dance Company showcases, the school’s production of Duke Ellington’s Sophisticated Ladies, and the NYU Steinhardt Summer Dance Intensive. As Director of Internal Service, she is excited to help develop a ballet community at UCLA through scheduling programming that encompasses the broad spectrum of students’ abilities and interests. She looks forward to seeing how the company will encourage students to come together, learn new skills and share in their love for the art form.
